Lynn’s Recollections and Reflections #26 – Present Day

Fast Forward to Today

Don’t worry, I will head back in time but I wanted to use this series to share what has been going on in my life lately.

I’m glad that I decorated really early for Christmas because things have been a little crazy.

Family Traditions

We celebrated our annual Swedish potato sausage-making tradition last weekend. We had a great time with my brother and sister-in-law and their grown kids. Yes, the same brother who lived with me in Recollections #23.

After they left, while I was washing dishes I sliced my index finger on my right hand open. I had a brand new very sharp knife in the soapy water and well… you can imagine the rest.

I spent several hours in the emergency room getting stitched up.

Feeling Left Out

Two days later in Dallas our son-in-law (Tommy) who must have been feeling left out as all of the attention lately has been on his 32-week pregnant wife (Annie) decided to have his appendix burst.

While this is typically a straightforward procedure, he spent 5 days in the hospital (including Thanksgiving). There were some complications and he couldn’t be released until he was stable.

Needless to say, he still has his appendix that will need to be taken out once the infection is under control. The timing will be right around the baby’s arrival.

This Past Friday

I got my stitches taken out and Tommy got to come home. Tommy’s Mom also arrived in Dallas which made this mom’s heart glad to know that they have help and support during this stressful time.

Now that my finger is almost back to normal, I can get myself back on track. I want to be not only caught up with blog posts but also ahead so that I don’t have to stress when I head to Dallas for the baby’s arrival.

I also have a surprise that I’ve been working on and I’m hoping that I can roll that out the first of the year as planned.

I can’t wait to share it with all of you!

Tomorrow I will be sharing a Christmas Tour of my Home! You don’t want to miss it.

Peace & Love,

WELCOME

Meet Me

After years in corporate America, I’ve channeled my interior design degree and passionate creativity into transforming our 1,300 square foot house into a cozy, inviting haven that proves beautiful living doesn’t require massive square footage.

My slight OCD tendencies fuel my love for organizing while my “Handy” husband helps bring my vintage-inspired decorating visions to life in our empty nest, where we entertain, garden, and cook from scratch.

Join me as I share practical wisdom, genuine humor, and professional insights for making the most of every square inch—because I’ve discovered that living large isn’t about the size of your home but how you fill it with style, function, and heart.

About the elderly woman: With long gray hair and glasses, she wears a white knit sweater and hoop earrings, her gentle smile radiates warmth against the plain light gray background.
