Lynn’s Recollections and Reflections #22 – Dating Single Mom

Dating Single Mom

Being a single mom who was still in her early 30s I really wanted to find my soul mate and maybe have a few more kids.

As luck would have it I had a few good friends who were also going through divorce.

Almost every other Saturday Kenny went to his Dad’s house for the night so that was when I could go out with my friends. We coordinated our part-time parents’ time so that we all had the same Saturday nights to ourselves.

This was before cell phones let alone dating apps so we did what everyone did back then to meet men, we went out to the bars.

My Best Guy!

Older Dating

We certainly didn’t look like the 20 year olds but we also didn’t have any problem attracting men.

The first thing on my to-do list however was to get rid of the mini-van. It definitely screamed, “What time is soccer practice?”

Finding the Right Guy

I went out on a lot of dates. I dated boys who were 21 and men who were 51. I even found someone who I thought might be the one and we dated for a couple of years.

But none of these guys were the right guy. It seemed I had a type or two and none of them were right for me or even good for me.

No matter what Kenny was my first priority.

Was the Right Guy Even Out There?

I certainly was kissing a lot of frogs!

For now my priority was Kenny and he was my favorite date!

This was the closest I came to the right guy. A carving that my brother made me. 🙂

It would finally happen but there’s still a lot in-between.

Peace & Love,
