Welcome to Living Large in A Small House

MAYBE YOU’RE DREAMING OF A HOME THAT FEELS MORE INTENTIONAL.

Beautiful, welcoming, and completely yours. Or maybe you’re in the middle of a transition, wondering what this next chapter looks like, Either way, you found the right place.

I’m Lynn. I write about decorating, gardening, and entertaining from a 1,300 square foot home in the Chicago suburbs. I’ve spent years proving that a home, lived with intention, can feel extraordinary no matter the size.

Meet Lynn

Hi, I’m Lynn, an interior design graduate, Zone 5b gardener, vintage collector, and enthusiastic host, all from a 1,300-square-foot home in the Chicago suburbs. My husband Keith (I call him “Handy” most of the time ) and I have raised three kids in this house, watched them leave, and are now happily in the grandparent era with our grandson Harrison. The home has never felt more like ours.

More of my story
An older woman with long gray hair and glasses sits outdoors, wearing a red sweater. She looks directly at the camera, with a soft-focus green background and string lights behind her, creating a charming setting for small home entertaining or gardening inspiration.

A home worth living in. A garden worth growing. a Table worth gathering around.

A cozy living room corner perfect for downsizing to a smaller home, featuring a round wooden table with a lamp, books, and greenery. A white sofa with plaid pillows and floral curtains creates an inviting, space-saving retreat.

Decorating

Making a small home feel beautiful, intentional, and completely yours. I have a degree in Interior Design and years of hands-on experience decorating our 1,300 sq. ft. home with vintage finds, smart storage, and a collected style that has evolved over time.

Gardening

We live in gardening Zone 5b in the Chicago suburbs. Our small 1/4 acre holds a vegetable garden, extensive perennial beds, a cutting, and herb garden, a greenhouse, and a chicken coop. I share my years of gardening advice with tips on Midwestern growing conditions.

Entertaining

Opening your home graciously, whether it’s a holiday dinner for twelve, overnight guests in a small space, or grandchildren taking over the kitchen on a Saturday morning. A small home, I’ve learned, is the coziest place to gather with people you love.
