Top 10 Blog Posts of 2023

It is so interesting to look at my Top 10 Blog Posts for 2023. It was a range of everything from food posts, organizing posts, decor, and outdoor/garden.

The food posts were the clear winner and in 2024 you will find all of my recipe posts in one place as I launch a separate food blog called “Small House Kitchen”.

I will still post all of my home and garden-related posts here and I will of course give you a link to each one of my recipes each week.

#1 – Grandma’s Super Simple Cucumber Salad Recipe

This is a family favorite that we eat almost every day when all those cucumbers become ready in our garden.

We only plant two cucumber plants each season but when we get cucumbers, boy do we get cucumbers. When we aren’t making and eating Grandma’s Cucumber Salad, we are making pickles.

#5 – Best Kitchen Organizing Ideas

I organize with my readers twice a year. In February and September. I typically start in the kitchen as it’s the heart of our home and I use my kitchen every single day. The #5 spot when to my kitchen organizing ideas! I’m not surprised.

#6 – The Best Peel and Stick Wallpaper for an Apartment

Our youngest daughter Emma lives in the sweetest little apartment in the city of Chicago and we helped make it even more lovely with peel and stick wallpaper.

My video also got a lot of action on YouTube.

#7 – How to Make Cajun Butter Sauce for Seafood

If I can’t have Italian food then my next choice would be cajun or creole. I love making this simple recipe with shrimp. Then dipping crusty french bread into the butter and eating it! Yum

I did a few “Book Club” blog posts with some of my blogging buddies and my home decor post inspired by the book “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett was quite a hit. Just like the movie 🙂 I had so much fun with this post. Maybe because it brought up so many memories of growing up in the 60’s.

#9 – The Best Traditional Italian Pasta Sauce

When I make pasta sauce, I make a pretty large stock pot full and then freeze it in individual containers with enough for a meal for “Handy” and me. Spaghetti and meatballs is on my meal planning rotation almost every week.

#10 – Three Tips to Make Bathroom Clean-up Simple

Last but certainly not least is my post for quick and easy bathroom clean-up. This is probably my least favorite job but it needs to be done often. I’ve got it down to a science and on of the equations is that you do it once a week.

Meet Me

After years in corporate America, I’ve channeled my interior design degree and passionate creativity into transforming our 1,300 square foot house into a cozy, inviting haven that proves beautiful living doesn’t require massive square footage.

My slight OCD tendencies fuel my love for organizing while my “Handy” husband helps bring my vintage-inspired decorating visions to life in our empty nest, where we entertain, garden, and cook from scratch.

Join me as I share practical wisdom, genuine humor, and professional insights for making the most of every square inch—because I’ve discovered that living large isn’t about the size of your home but how you fill it with style, function, and heart.
