Latest At Living Large: We Survived

Well we lived through last weekend watching an 18th month old. He gave us a run for our money. He didn’t go to bed until around 9 (our bed time) and was up at 6:30 every morning. That’s what time I get up but I was really hoping to have a little time to drink my coffee and get prepared before he woke up.

No, we hit the ground running. On Sunday I was having some tummy troubles and Keith had to take over for most of the day until the girls got home. By Tuesday he was feeling so badly he didn’t go to work. He never doesn’t go to work. He had us all a bit concerned by he woke up Wednesday and seemed to be doing much better.

This Week’s Events

Happy 4th of July. Living on water we don’t have to go far for fireworks, so I expect this week will be pretty noisy.

We are back to working on the greenhouse. Keith had prepped and sanded the vintage windows, I just need to paint and I’ve had other things on my plate so this weekend, we are painting the windows. Once I’m done with that, some of the panes are missing and Keith needs to fix those. He also is making the hinged windows that we will be able to open above these fixed panels.

I also need to put a varnish on the shelve he made to match the countertop. The shelve is going to be on the same wall as the counter where the roof joists start. Here is a sneak peek of what the greenhouse looks like now.

A latest potting bench with a sink, faucet, rustic cabinets, and drawers sits inside a bright greenhouse with a clear roof and brick floor. A garden is visible through the glass walls.

I hope I can show you some real progress next week. I’m planning on giving it my full-time attention until its done. I also have to really dig (literally) into the gardens as they are over grown with weeds and we are having a big bridal shower here in a month.

I’m also replacing lots of flowers and plants that the deer have literally mowed down and I’ll put on the full-court press to keep them away so the flowers can grow and be pretty in early August.

If you need me I’ll be outside working!

Behind the scenes

Hi, I’m Lynn

After years in corporate America, I’ve channeled my interior design degree and passionate creativity into transforming our 1,300 square foot house into a cozy, inviting haven that proves beautiful living doesn’t require massive square footage.

My slightly OCD tendencies fuel my love for organizing while my “Handy” husband helps bring my vintage-inspired decorating visions to life in our empty nest, where we entertain, garden, and cook from scratch.

Join me as I share practical wisdom, a little humor, and professional insights for making the most of every square inch—because I’ve discovered that living large isn’t about the size of your home but how you fill it with style, function, and heart.

An older woman in a summer capsule wardrobe—white shirt, blue overalls, and gardening gloves—stands on grass, digging with a shovel among lush green plants and pink flowers. Trees and a white trellis frame the vibrant outdoor scene.

A dark blue background with a subtle, wavy abstract line pattern running across the center, reminiscent of the flowing creativity often found when living large in a small house.

    1. He is so cute but boy is he a handful – Have fun and hopefully it is cooler for you. We have so much yard work to do and the heat is going to be bad for as far as we have a forecast. Plus it means I have to water everything everyday. It’s crazy!
