The Beauty of Faux Florals
While fresh flowers certainly have their charm, artificial floral arrangements offer lasting beauty without the maintenance. Today’s high-quality faux flowers look impressively realistic and provide the perfect opportunity to create a stunning centerpiece that won’t wilt before your dinner party ends.
Modern faux florals from retailers like Afloral have come a long way—with silk flowers and artificial flower arrangements that mimic the delicate textures and colors of nature so convincingly, your guests might do a double-take!
Creating Your Spring Table Decorations
Creating Your Spring Table Decorations
For the heart of our tablescape, I’ve chosen something so simple. I placed a small faux tree that I purchased this spring from Target, in the center of my table. The tree is short enough that it fits underneath the chandelier. However it’s tall enough that its doesn’t block view of your guests or the flow of conversation.
The beauty of using a faux flower centerpiece is that once you’ve created your perfect arrangement, it stays that way—no drooping, no water changes, just consistent beauty.
Building Around Your Centerpiece
Once your artificial centerpiece is in place, build the tablescape outward. Using faux eucalyptus garland that I had in stock from Annie and Tommy’s Wedding, I put that down and around centerpiece. Then I stuck in a few faux flower picks. I had some fern leaves and small rose buds with greens. I added just a few as I didn’t want it to be overwhelming, just subtle.
Then I tucked in some items from my greenhouse: terra cotta pots, birds nest with faux eggs, and a few little birds. My brass candle sticks have a bit more fun when I tied thin green velvet ribbon to the base of the candles.
For a truly whimsical touch, I planted some small viola plants inside of the cabbage cups. They are the only live flowers on the table and will make a beautiful gift for my guests to take home. I also could have use teacups or eggcups for flower and scatter them along the dining table
Lastly, I added some mini Peter Rabbit Books to the table. It pulls together my chosen theme.

Setting a Spring Table
My next step was to set the table.
- I started with paper cabbage leave placemats but you could also layer textured placements in natural materials like jute or rattan
- Simple white plates, vintage glassware, and vintage silver came next
- My green leave salad plates make another appearance on my table
- The small glass cabbage cups, that I got from one of my favorite little shops in KC (Diebolts), became a vessel for a small plant at each place setting
- The resin white articokes that I purchased at another KC, must visit, shop (Nell Hills) are placed on top of each salad plate.
Other Spring Table Centerpiece Ideas
I easily created several spring centerpiece ideas out of the artificial flowers that I have in my flower arsenal. Hopefully it will give you some other ideas that you can do with things you have on hand.
- White vintage enamelware pitcher filled with a gorgeous arrangement of tall faux spring branches
- A simple ceramic pitcher with soft-touch tulips
- Blue and White pottery with artificial lilac bush branches
- Ironstone white vase with pink faux peonies
Extending the Spring Theme Throughout Your Home
Why stop at the dining table? Carry your spring theme throughout your living space.
Spring Fireplace Mantel
A few years ago, I created a whimsical fireplace mantel for spring and it was such fun. It was the inspiration for the tablescape I’m sharing with you today. I have recreated that same mantel so that my living room and dining room spaces both match.
