This Week’s Events

I’ve been working at “Handy’s” shop painting the wood for our new greenhouse this week. We were hoping to start putting it together this weekend but that’s just not going to happen. Maybe next weekend. It’s a lot of wood that I have to paint.

This weekend “Handy” is actually working on another project. He’s putting in a new irrigation system in our vegetable garden. We always have too many projects happening at the same time and sometimes not a very realistic time frame of what we can physically get done.

I’m still plugging away trying to get some things fixed on my blog so that Google will think I’m relevant and creating helpful content. It’s very frustrating to have a boss who doesn’t give you any direction, is not available for questions, changes their minds every few months about the direction of the company and expects you to keep up.

My blog post on Friday is all about housekeeping. When I get right down to the meat and potatoes of what I like to do and what I like to blog about and it’s housekeeping. Not traditional homemaking but homemaking all the same. That’s what I’m going to focus on going forward. What makes my small house a home.

In the Garden

I planted a lilac bush two years ago and this year, I finally have three beautiful blooms. The picture above is one of the lovely bunches in my house. I’m so excited.

I have almost all of my pots planted but I still need to make one more trip to the nursery for the final three or four containers.

In the vegetable garden we have planted tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, zucchini, beets, radishes, snow peas, and cucumbers so far. I still need to get my carrot seeds in and I’m thinking about trying potatoes in one empty area???

My perennial gardens are a mess. I need to spend some serious time in their getting them cleaned up, weeding, and splitting some plants. Then we need to get a layer of mulch down.

Behind the scenes

Hi, I’m Lynn

After years in corporate America, I’ve channeled my interior design degree and passionate creativity into transforming our 1,300 square foot house into a cozy, inviting haven that proves beautiful living doesn’t require massive square footage.

My slightly OCD tendencies fuel my love for organizing while my “Handy” husband helps bring my vintage-inspired decorating visions to life in our empty nest, where we entertain, garden, and cook from scratch.

Join me as I share practical wisdom, a little humor, and professional insights for making the most of every square inch—because I’ve discovered that living large isn’t about the size of your home but how you fill it with style, function, and heart.
