Latest From Living Large: I’m in Texas Again

I left Illinois on Wednesday, January 28th, and headed to Kansas. My blogging buddy Diane from South House Designs spent two days working on her new blog. Another blogging bestie, Amy from Amy Sadler Designs, joined us in KC, and the two of us managed to get in several hours of shopping time at two of our favorite stores: Nell Hills and Diebolt’s.

Here is a little history lesson about our favorite stores. Mary Carol Garrity founded Nell Hills, which she sold in 2018 to Katie Laughridge. Currently she owns Dibolt’s in Kansas City. Mary Carol is also a published author. I happened to have two books by Mary Carol Garrity in my collection of books at home. I’ve had these books for years, well before I ever knew about either store.

Furthermore, I recently discovered the correlation of my books to these stores, and I brought them with me on this trip. Mary Carol graciously signed my books, which will now be housed in a prominent place on my shelves.

A woman with glasses and shoulder-length hair is signing her latest book at a table in a cozy, well-lit room decorated with wall plates and books.

What’s Been Happening This Week

After spending two days in Kansas, I headed for Dallas last Saturday. I’m here to help take care of Harrison, who had tubes put in his ears and his adenoids removed on Tuesday. He came through the surgery like a champ, but he’s had a rough week. He’s not eating much and waking up when his Motrin or Tylenol is wearing off.

“Handy” flew down yesterday and is getting in some good Grandpa time. Our plan is to watch the Super Bowl tonight and leave in the morning to drive home.

What I’m Up to Next Week

Once home, I’m going to be able to get myself back on schedule. I thrive on structure, and I can’t wait to get back to my routine.

A kitchen counter displays the latest bottles of dish soap and hand soap, a soap bar on a dish, wooden cleaning brushes in a glass bowl, and a small Eiffel Tower figurine, all arranged on a white pedestal stand. Sunlight streams in softly.

Good News I Want to Share

I’ll be back with more good news next week!

A peek into my life

Lynn’s Recollections & Reflections

I have a little series that started out as a journal of sorts for my kids to have about my life. It became something more.

It’s a place where I share a very personal look into my life and believe it or not have helped some people get out of unhealthy situations.

It’s a work of fiction as it relates to others as it is my recollections of events. I hope you enjoy!

I ADORE Mary Carol Garrity! I have several of her books. Wish I could’ve seen you on your quick trip to TX.

    1. Hi Laura, this trip was all about taking care of our little guy. Next time I plan a trip, I’ll let you know ahead of time. Would love to meet-up with you too!

  2. I will have to check out Mary Carol Garrity’s books. Oh, how I long to go back to Nell Hills. I could get lost in that store for hours just looking at the bolts of fabric. A friend of mine, originally from Kansas, is talking about us taking a trip there to shop.

So glad Harrison made it through his surgery without a hitch. I hope it helps the little guy.

    1. Tammy – I’m know that I am so lucky to be close enough to visit often. I get lost in there every time I go. It’s always different and always amazing. You need to make the trip. It would be a very fun road trip so you have a car to bring home all your purchases. Thanks so much for the well wishes for Harrison. He already seems to be doing better. We could tell immediately his hearing was better as he started repeating every single word we said and putting strings of words together which he hadn’t done before. It is rather remarkable. Hope all is well with you and the fam!
