Elevate Your Cooking Game with Tuscan Herb Salt

In late summer my gardens are filled with so much fresh goodness. The beautiful mounds of fresh herbs are heavenly.

I love to preserve all of this fresh goodness for the upcoming fall, winter, and spring.

A glass jar with an orange seal, labeled "Herbed Salt, All Natural," brims with flavorful herb salt. Nestled on a countertop, it sits beside a striped cloth against a blurred backdrop.

Making Herb Salt

One way to enjoy this fresh goodness is to make herb salt. It’s so simple and easy to make and something you can enjoy for months.

While you can use regular table salt, I prefer Redmond’s Sea Salt or Kosher Salt for this recipe.

Fresh herbs and garlic cloves glisten in the food processor bowl, their aromas mingling with a hint of herb salt, poised for a perfect chop by the sharp metal blade.

Yum

Using the knife attachment of a food processor you just whir together salt, fresh sage, fresh oregano, fresh thyme, fresh rosemary, and garlic cloves.

Make sure to scrap any salt or herbs down, and process until the salt mixture is very finely chopped.

Spread this mixture in a thin layer on a sheet pan or baking sheet and let dry in room temperature for 3 days.

Once the herb salt has dried, put it into an air-tight container and store it in a cool dry place.

Alternative Herbs

The herbs you use are a personal choice. You can create different blends of salts by using other herbs.

You could also add lemon zest to the mix for a Mediterranean flavor.
