Latest From Living Large: Winding Down February
We’ve had some pretty decent weather this month. Maybe I’m feeling that way because I spend a good part of it in Texas and it was in the 80s there. But we’ve been in the 50s and 60s here in Illinois which isn’t typical for us.
This last week in February will be more typical weather. I’m Ok with that because it will make March weather all the more enjoyable.

What’s Been Happening This Week
Last night we to one of our favorite Wisconsin Supper Clubs (The Butterfly Club in Beloit, WI) with our old neighbors. Sorry Barb and Dennis!! Barb and Dennis are our supper club buddies who we do most of our clubbing with. We have a supper club weekend coming up with them in March – Can’t wait!
I drove to Rockton, IL this week, which isn’t to far from the Wisconsin border, to pick up a Facebook Marketplace find. I’ve been wanting a new (to me) end table for the living room and I found the perfect one for a steal. I probably spent more in gas than I did for the table. My original plan was to paint it but I’m really loving the dark wood in my light room.
Annie was in town for a visit to the sister TV station that she works for in Dallas. We headed to the city on Thurday night to have dinner with her and Emma at Emma’s apartment. We then dropped Annie off at O’Hare on our way back home. We are hoping that this might lead to a move home for our little Dallas family. More to come on that soon.
Wendy (WM Design House) and I have started recording our podcast again. Two Porches and a Pour. We are having a lot of fun as we get back to our roots, talking about our passions; Decorating, Gardening, Home Projects and sipping a little wine! We start off this season talking about creating your design fingerprint and we are having so much fun with it. I’m hoping to have the first two episodes edited and out, starting this week. You’ll get an email from me when it goes live. We are also going to be on YouTube this season so you can watch us if you so desire.
What I’m Up to Next Week
This next week I’ve got some organizing that needs to get done in our primary bedroom. While I’m there I’m going to give the space a little facelift. Not major changes, just changing some of the bedding.
I will also be starting the seeds in my house. This year I’ve put some seeds into gallon plastic jugs and put them outside (winter sowing). This is my first attempt at this type of seed starting and I’m anxious to see how it goes. I’ve put sweet peas, snapdragons and celosia seeds out so far. I may do a few more varieties this week.
Lots of puttering around the house this week, slowly putting out my Easter/Spring decor.

Good News I Want to Share
- A cute little giraffe was born at the Toledo Zoo with a very unusual head of hair. This story reminded me of my obsession with April the giraffe at the Animal Adventure Park in New York (2017) whose impending birth was streaming live. I’m still embarrased by the amount of time I spent watching that Momma giraffe walk around waiting for that baby to be born. Was anyone else as invested as me in this birth?
- This is the ultimate vintage sale. Lois Jurgens was hoping to get $300 for her antique crock. It sold for $32,000 at auction. Read about it HERE.
- I’ve been looking for retreat areas for my little blogging buddies group and came upon this amazing spot on Prince Edward Island, home of fabled “Anne of Green Gables” – I found it in Wander Magazine. Did you know they also feature me a few years back? You can read about it HERE.

A peek into my life
Lynn’s Recollections & Reflections
I have a little series that started out as a journal of sorts for my kids to have about my life. It became something more.
It’s a place where I share a very personal look into my life and believe it or not have helped some people get out of unhealthy situations.
It’s a work of fiction as it relates to others as it is my recollections of events. I hope you enjoy!
