Saturday Shopping with Me and My Friends #9

Welcome to Saturday Shopping at this Small House

I don’t know about you but shopping is just more fun with friends. I love to see what they are liking and it’s funny how some of the same things end up in my cart as well.

Upgrade your Easter decor on a budget! This easy DIY transforms eggs into stunning Pottery Barn-inspired beauties with blue and white napkins along with the egg that I made with a fine-tip marker

Spring is In the Air

I don’t know about where you live but it’s been unseasonably warm here in Illinois (with a few days of snow sprinkled in).

Between the weather and the refresh we did by painting our great room area with Sherwin Williams Color of the Year, I have nothing but spring on my mind.

I pulled my spring/Easter decor down this past weekend and everything is looking pretty worse for wear. I really need a new wreath for my front door. Here are the ones that I have my eye on.

What My Friends Are Loving

Anna – Sky Lark House

  • Spring is my favorite season and I love to switch things up in our home to reflect the season. I love using the mint-scented Mrs Meyers dish soap. It (almost) makes doing dishes enjoyable.
  • I also like to switch up our bedding. Now that the temperatures are in the 40s, we don’t need our heavy down comforter. This block print quilt by Studio McGee is perfect at the end of our bed. It is just warm enough to keep you comfortable during spring nights.
  • Now that March is here, I am so excited to start growing plants from seeds. Most notably, Zinnias and Celosias. I plan on using these seed starting kits from Burpee. Each kit is less than $12 for a tray of 36 cells!
  • If you like to grow your own veggies or flowers, this raised garden bed is fabulous. A raised bed is a great way to protect your plants from animals and you can place it in an area that gets a lot of sun.
  • I finally decided to replace my Tupperware and love this set by Rubbermaid. Also, just between you and me, the teal color lids are what sold me. It’s also BPA-free, dishwasher-safe, and microwave-safe. Oh – and all the containers nest in one another so your Tupperware is always organized.

Cindy – Reinvented Delaware

  • I’ve been on a copper-cleaning binge lately. My handmade copper pots needed a little help and Earth Brite is the best copper cleaner I have found. It’s all-natural and easy to use. It works great on thrift store brass candlesticks too!
  • One of my good friends bought me warming slippers and I love them! As I age, my feet get cold while we are watching TV at night. Thirty seconds in the microwave and these cozy slippers warm my feet to the perfect temp!
  • Usually, I wear contacts but I still like to have readers around when I need them. I found these reading glasses on Amazon and I love them because they don’t look like drugstore readers. Let’s stay in fashion ladies! BTW, I just moved up to 2.5 🤓
  • My friend convinced me to get a wobble balance board. It’s a great tool to strengthen my core and my balance and that’s especially important as I get a few years older. I want to be steady on my feet for my grandkids!

Diane – South House Designs

Spring is really trying hard to take over, so let’s get ahead of our Spring chores and Outdoor fun with our shopping today.

    • I’m treating myself to garden kneeler and seat. to save my not-so-young knees and back. I chose this one because it is a good value for the deeper seat/kneeler. Many seats/kneelers are only 6 or 8 inches deep (that’s like the kneelers in church)! This one is over 10 inches deep. Plus, it comes with two bags. Perfect for bug spray, water bottle, and phone in one. Garden tools in the other.

    • This is the year to add irrigation to this house like we had in the last house. This is the irrigation kit I’m going to use for the large balcony we have across the back of the house. This irrigation kit is for the large in-ground bed we have surrounding the crushed granite patio. And no irrigation system should be used without a timer. This one is perfect for us because it can run the two irrigation systems independently.

    • Good clippers or pruners are essential. This pair is designed for ease of use, specifically for arthritis sufferers. Fortunately, that’s not me, yet. But I’m not one to turn down any ease of use. They are at a good price right now, but if you are just getting started with gardening, or don’t really have that much to clip, here is a good pair that is a bit more budget-friendly.

    • It’s important to celebrate a job done! Cold beverages anyone? Love a rolling cooler patio cart. This one is my favorite. Why? The extending shelves on the sides for pouring, mixing, and having nibbles at the ready! The lid even has a glass shelf for glasses, garnishes, etc. The inside is divided for the option to keep food cold, but dry on one side and ice and beverages on the other, or all ice and beverages. If that’s a budget buster for you, then here’s a great option. I prefer this one because the bottom shelf is easier to clean than the lipped shelves on most of the others.

    • I discovered these fly fans at the outdoor tables in Dallas restaurants. They work!!!! So to keep our guests, and ourselves comfortable outside, I LOVE can’t survive without these fly fans. Run on battery or USB. Great for camping too. TIP: set one on the floor around your ankles. No more biters. You’ll be amazed!

Lora – Lora Bloomquist

    • Recently I went to our local Arboretum Spring flower show and picked up these beautiful resin earrings from a vendor. They’re so pretty! I gave a pair to Happy Girl for her birthday, too. I think they’d be perfect bridesmaid or Mother’s Day gifts. Some crafters will custom-make them, also. Check HERE for an amazing collection of styles and artistry. Perfect for Spring!

    • Our mattress is old and I’ve not been sleeping well. Someone suggested we try a memory foam mattress topper and it has made such a difference! Every night I feel like I’m crawling into a hotel bed, it’s so comfy and cushy. So much more inexpensive than getting a whole new mattress. You can find the one we have HERE.

    • One of the best purchases I made through the years was a pair of green glass lamps. I swap them back and forth from our bedside tables to the living room depending on the season. Green is such a neutral. I still love these lamps years later. I can’t find my exact pair, but I rounded up a beautiful collection of green lamps HERE.

I hope that you enjoyed shopping with me today!

If you made a purchase, please know that we all appreciate it as it helps in a small way to support our small house businesses.

Peace & Love,

  1. I suggest looking at the Grandin Road reviews first. One of the reviewers is a friend. Her review is accurate.

All stunning wreaths! I have never really put wreaths on our front door. I usually like baskets or something different. Then I said – what the heck? Why do I care more about the Amazon man than us so I’m putting one on our back door! I want instant happiness when I walk in too. 😉 Thanks for the inspo Lynn!

    1. Hi Cindy – I actually only put it up when we are having company because the birds make nests in anything I put on my front door 🙂

  3. That rose wreath is stunning!! Hope you have a great time with that sweet grandbaby this week!

  4. Hi Lynn – I love all the wreaths you shared! The colors are so pretty. I don’t know about you – but we are ready for some warmer weather and greenery ! I bet your newly painted room looks fantastic. It’s the perfect way to usher in a new season.
