Lynn’s Recollections and Reflections #39 – Living My Dream

How lucky am I to be living out my dream? I spend my days at home, creating, writing, and sharing it all with you.

But is my life perfect?

a cup of coffee that is the start of my day.

A Day in My Life

I want to share what my days are like and while I’m happier than I’ve ever been, I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t share the good and the bad.

How I Start My Date

Almost every day starts the same.

  • I usually get up pretty early. I have my alarm set for 7:30 but I’m almost always up between 6:30 and 7:00
  • My cup of coffee is the very first thing that happens in my day.
  • I take my coffee to my office and sit on the sofa. I check my email and texts to see if there is anything important that I need to address
  • “Handy” gets up around 8 and once he’s done showering and getting ready for work, I head back upstairs.
    • I take a shower and get ready for the day
    • Make our bed

The Rest of The Day

I typically head back down to my office and work. I always have some office to work to do each morning.

Once I’ve done my daily work then depending on the week I either write or I work on projects.

In between spending time working on my blog, I take time to do some laundry, maybe some cleaning, or running errands. It just depends on the day and what I need to get done.

By late afternoon “Handy” is home and I continue working until 5 or 6. One night a week I have a call with some of my blogging friends. On those nights “Handy” makes frozen pizza for our dinner. The rest of the week, I prepare a home-cooked dinner for us.

As we get older I seem to be working more and “Handy” seems to be working less. I can honestly say that at times it’s a bit frustrating.

Working from Home

The Pros

I get to work in a place that I’ve made into a cozy, comfortable space. If I want, I can light a candle or even a fire in the fireplace. I’m the boss of my domain.

I can also take breaks to do things around the house that keep my home the way that I like it. I can also run out whenever I need to do something.

I’ve been known to take a 20-minute nap in the late afternoons during the seasons when I have to take allergy medicine. It wipes me out.

The Cons

I do well working from home because I did it in my corporate work life, even before it was a thing. However, the downside of working from home is the isolation even when you’re used to it. This is why having blogging friends is so important. Even though we all live thousands of miles away from each other, we are each other’s co-workers. We talk and text daily. We are also lucky enough to see each other in real life on occasion.

I will be sharing my visit to my friend Wendy’s house soon! Beyond amazing!

The other part of working from home that isn’t great is that the people in your life don’t think you have a “real” job. Everyone thinks I have a lot of time on my hands to help them out with what they basically are too lazy to do.

The technical part of my job is a blessing and a curse. It keeps me on my toes and my mind sharp (my kids would disagree). It is also very challenging, frustrating, and stressful.

Loving What You Do

I love that I get to share my passions with you and it’s my job. How crazy is that?

While I’m doing what I love, I’m also very busy, and taking time out to go to lunch with a friend or visit my kids, puts me either off schedule or under pressure to work longer and harder to get my work done.

Writing isn’t the hard part, it’s all the other things that go into it.

I have suffered for years from anxiety and panic attacks so being able to work from home keeps that at bay. My home is my safe space and a reason why I enjoy spending most of my time here. To say that I’m a homebody would be an understatement.

We are all Caught Up

So we are all caught up to the current time in my life, in this little series. Can you believe that I’ve been sharing for almost exactly one year? My first post was on April 17, 2023. I won’t be writing as frequently. I will however share on occasion what’s happening with me and my family.

I will also share when things come up that I forgot to add to these posts. It’s impossible to condense 66 years of life into one year.

This will be my spot still for recollections and reflections as they happen.

I want to thank everyone for being here and following along. The amount of comments, DM’s, and even mail is overwhelming. I appreciate every one of you more than you know!

Peace & Love,
