Lynn’s Recollections and Reflections #27 – Meeting Keith
1992
I had finally settled into my new home. I was hoping that my prayers that I hadn’t completely messed up Kenny were being answered.
While divorce ended my marriage it didn’t end the partnership of being parents to Kenny. It was so ugly and always a struggle. I didn’t know then but I would end up keeping a lawyer on retainer until Kenny turned 18. In the summer of 1992, Kenny was just 7 years old.
I was also still dating knuckleheads. I did have a boyfriend who lasted for about a year but he was not right for me and I was not right for him.
One Summer Day in July
By July of 1992, I had my own Interior Design firm that kept me pretty busy. It was me and one other Interior Designer who worked for me.
She happened to live in a home on the Fox River and had a boat. On a particularly nice day when we had a little downtime, we decided to take the boat out for a ride.
We stopped at a local river restaurant to get lunch. There was a guy there who my friend/employee introduced me to. His name was Keith and he owned a glass company that I guess we had worked with for customers. I was told that he had delivered a glass tabletop to my house. I had no recollection of ever meeting him.
He had a SeaDoo (small 2-person watercraft) and asked me if I wanted to take a ride. I had never been on one before and since I was always up for new things, I said yes.
He took me to his house on the river. He gave me a tour of a small A-Frame that was an obvious bachelor pad. Then we headed back to the restaurant. My friend and I headed back to her house shortly after returning.
A First Date
Keith called me a few days later and asked me if I wanted to spend the day with him on his boat. We went to lunch at another restaurant on the river and spent a fun day getting to know each other. He was a nice guy but was not really my type.
A Second Date
He called the following weekend and asked me to go to a Joe Cocker Concert. I hate Joe Cocker.
But Kenny was with his Dad and I had no plans so I said yes.
I’m going to leave things right here. Tune in next week to find out what happens next.
Peace & Love,
