Latest At Living Large: Live from Dallas

I didn’t anticipate that I would be back in Dallas any time soon, but here I am! Annie and Tommy were headed to Mexico for a family wedding, and his Mom was supposed to fly in to watch Harrison. Because of both weather and the government shutdown, she couldn’t get out of NYC.

Plan B (which by the way we didn’t have planned) was for me to hop in my car and drive 1000 miles to Dallas. I left my house at 5:30am in Illinois and pulled into their driveway at 9:00pm. “Nana” was able to get here without a hitch today, so I’m going to spend tomorrow with her and then leave early Tuesday morning to head home. This time I’m doing my usual stop in KC to visit with my friend Diane @South House Designs. My plan is to be back home by Wednesday.

Keeping up with a 22-month-old is not for the faint of heart!

A young child with blond hair, wearing a beige cardigan, white shirt, and green pants, stands barefoot on a wooden floor against a white brick wall, showcasing the latest look while pointing to the right with one hand in their pocket.

I would have taken the whole week babysitting shift, but Keith’s Mom fell and broke her hip right before I left. She is still in the hospital and got through surgery great. Now she will need to be in rehab probably for about a month and I want to be supportive in any way possible. Also, his other grandma was really looking forward to some “Harrison” time.

As I mentioned last week, we are having some necessary repair work done on our home, and they didn’t come last week, but “Handy” and his crew have started to pull the windows out of the back of our house. I should have put my Christmas Decoration up three weeks ago when the work was originally supposed to start, knowing that construction never goes as planned.

Latest scaffolding is set up indoors in front of a large window, with part of the upper wall covered in oriented strand board (OSB) for renovation. Trees and outdoor chairs are visible through the glass.

This Week on the Blog

What I had planned for the end of the week didn’t get posted as planned, but now I have content for next week.

I have a fun post about how to make an ordinary grilled cheese, extraordinary. And my podcast episode with my guest co-host Amy is also a great listen (or watch if you head over to YouTube) about something we both have in common: having babies after 40.

I’m always anxious for the next upcoming season. Fall is my absolute favorite season. If you’re looking for some inspiration you can find it here.

Behind the scenes

Hi, I’m Lynn

I traded corporate life for cozy living and now share how to make small spaces feel beautifully intentional.

With a love of vintage finds, organized chaos (emphasis on organized), and a handy husband who builds my wild ideas, I’m here to show that living large isn’t about square feet—it’s about heart, style, and good bones.

An older woman in a summer capsule wardrobe—white shirt, blue overalls, and gardening gloves—stands on grass, digging with a shovel among lush green plants and pink flowers. Trees and a white trellis frame the vibrant outdoor scene.
