Holiday Home Tour: A Cozy Greenhouse Transformed for Christmas
Today is a very exciting day! It’s the start of a week-long peek into the beautiful homes of 35 bloggers. You are going to see the holiday decorating and Christmas transformation of their homes.
Things look a little different around here right now—our great room renovation hit a three-week delay, which means the usual twinkling tree in the living room had to wait its turn. But honestly? It turned out to be the happiest twist.
Instead of decorating our home in the traditional way, I took the celebration outside… to my little greenhouse.
What started as a practical solution quickly became my favorite holiday transformation ever. This tiny glass cottage that we recently built is charming, but dressed in soft whites, sparkling lights, and vintage touches, has turned it into the coziest Christmas retreat. Step inside with me and see how this unexpected space has become the heart of our holiday season.

The Inspiration Behind My Greenhouse Christmas Transformation
The greenhouse, with its window and beadboard walls painted a crisp white, deserves to have lights twinkling off of them.
In my mind, I had a picture of a cozy chair with pillows and throws, seasonal greens in my planters, and a table set with crystal and china.

All of this came to life when the greenhouse became my holiday focus. It is a place where my small-space Christmas decorating can really shine.
“When life gives you construction delays… decorate the greenhouse.”

Decorating the Greenhouse for Christmas
Decorating this greenhouse was all about creating warmth, sparkle, and soft Christmas charm in a tiny space.
Creating a Cozy Foundation
These are the foundational details that we put into the greenhouse that work well with decorating it for Christmas
- Brick paver floors
- Antique windows and French doors
- High beamed ceiling
- Clear roofing material
- Painted wood
- Crystal chandelier
- Sconces with low light for ambience
- Whitewashed pallet-board potting bench
- Corbels
- Beadboard on the back wall
I knew all of these details could complement or twinkle in the glow of Christmas lights!
A Neutral Winter Wonderland Tree
When I was able to score one of the Home Depot Viral Christmas trees, I knew it belonged in my cozy holiday greenhouse. I wanted this new space to be magical and twinkle.
A Christmas tree without ornaments is a beautiful thing to me, and I contemplated it for a bit. However, I had originally envisioned decorating with only white to match the vibe of the greenhouse, and it works. I kept it very simple and just used white ball ornaments, white pine cones and various styles of white snowflakes. Items from nature in white. Then I came across an old, small wire sign I had that simply said “Merry Christmas”. I hung it prominently on the tree.
Using these neutral Christmas decor ideas helps make this cozy holiday greenhouse work!

Bringing Vintage Charm Into A Modern Christmas Space
The greenhouse, created with vintage windows, has such a charming, old-world feel, so it made perfect sense to bring in pieces that echoed that same vintage character. From chippy white furniture to crystal candlesticks, these details add soul and warmth to this tiny glass cottage.
Chippy Whites & Cozy Winter Textures
In the greenhouse, I have a very old drop-leaf table and two outdoor wooden chairs that are all painted in chippy white. I added white throws to the chairs for a cozy, layered winter look.

Elegant Vintage Tableware
I don’t know which part is the star of the show?
- Vintage Fostoria – 3-Light Candlestick (Baroque Shape)Corsage Clear
- Dinner Plates—Adeline China (Majestic)
- Salad Plates—Noritake (175 China)
- Crystal Goblet—Waterford (Kincora)
- Silverware—Wallace Queens Flatware
Each piece has its own history, and together they bring such a soft, timeless charm to the space.
A Touch of Vintage Florals
I used a small vintage white pitcher with a gold rim as a vessel for my Trader Joe’s roses and Parvifolia eucalyptus. The soft silver roses look almost pink in the glow of the candlelight.

Elegant Table for Two
Once the table was set, it became the perfect spot for dinner with Handy. In the small house it’s just the two of us most nights, so an unexpected setting made even Chinese take out taste very elegant. It reminded us that we don’t have to be creatures of habit and always eat at the dining room table—or, in most cases, in front of the TV.

Layering in Natural Elements
Bringing in fresh greenery was the key to making this tiny glass cottage feel alive for Christmas. These natural layers softened all the whites and connected the greenhouse back to its garden roots.
Gathering Fresh Seasonal Greenery
I knew that I wanted some holiday greenery in the space. I found beautiful bundles at my local nursery, Costco, and Trader Joe’s. Even though it isn’t yet Thanksgiving, holiday greens are available almost everywhere.

The Vintage Swan Planter Story
On a trip to Dallas, I went vintage shopping with my good friend Michele from Vintage Home Design and finally found something I’ve hunted for forever: a beautiful old swan planter. It was a no-brainer that she was coming home with me.
I filled her with fir branches, ruscus, a berry stem, and a large pine cone. She instantly became a star of the space.

Adding Layers of Greenery Throughout the Greenhouse
Inside, I filled an old enamelware coffee pot with glossy magnolia leaves. Outside the greenhouse doors, I arranged spruce tops and more ruscus in an old wooden crate. These touches made the entrance feels just as festive as the inside.
Hanging small wreaths on the French door panels was the icing on the cake.

Creating a Sense of Place
I have several swans in the greenhouse. I love how they echo the white, graceful palette I’m trying to create. They also remind us that steps away is the water that welcomes a pair of real swans home every spring.
All the greenery and natural elements help tie the greenhouse back to what it truly is, a place that connects us to nature—even when it’s dressed for Christmas.

Small Space, Big Holiday Spirit
While it may be a few weeks before I can get the inside of my house filled with Christmas decor, I love how I was able to create a Christmas greenhouse and share this with all of you on this holiday home tour 2025.
Sometimes we have to find joy in unexpected spaces and even if it’s just a cozy corner in a room, we all need an area that brings us joy!
I hope this post give you great winter inspiration that you can use in any space of your home.

Lynn, your darling glasshouse glows! How beautiful and festive. You must have had so much fun adding all your beautiful holiday touches and organics. Your swan is lovely. What a find! Merry Christmas!
Thank you, Yvonne—It really is magical. This is my first holiday with this new greenhouse, so I’m pleasantly surprised at how it’s coming together. I’m already making notes for next year 🙂
Lynn, your charming greenhouse is truly captivating. What a happy accident! All of the gorgeous textures and elements create a truly enchanting scene. Thank you so much for this wonderful tour!
Thank you, Laura—It’s turned out to be such a fun space. I had such grand plans for the inside and didn’t really take the outside into decorating consideration. Considering, I’m really pleased with how it turned out.
Oh Lynn! Now I want a greenhouse even more! Yours is truly magical and especially decorated for Christmas. I’m in love and gathered so much inspiration. The table for two, to the swan to the outside lights…gorgeous! Thank you for hosting!
You do need a greenhouse! My old one wasn’t “weather-tight” and I couldn’t grow my seeds in it. This one is solid and it’s heated, so I’m going to be able to start my seeds in here in the spring, and I’m really excited about that too!
Your Greenhouse is the most magical setting for Christmas that I have ever seen. What a wonderful idea to decorate it for the season. I love it all. The architecture of the little Greenhouse is gorgeous and you’ve decorated every inch to perfection. I am totally in awe.
