It’s a beautiful Saturday in The Chicago Suburbs. The sun is shining. It’s definitely fall temperatures, which I love. . I’m showing off my new little cabinet that I bought to display some vintage goodness #showusthevintage I found this on FB marketplace. I’ve been looking for a small, tall cabinet for sometime. I was going to paint this white but when I got it in the house, it just works. . I was also inspired by @parisiennefarmgirl @theelliotthome @homemakerchicpodcast to get out some of my old coffee table decorating and gardening books. Now that it’s the season for fires in the fireplace, I had forgotten how much I love to just thumb through these books next to the fire. I started decorating for fall today. I was hoping to get it all done but real life issues happened. We needed a new water softener and my afternoon ended up being vacuuming and washing all the floors on the main floor. My stove has taken a beating the last couple of weeks. You can read all about my preserving the harvest of my gardens on my blog. The link is in my bio. . Today she got a complete tear down cleaning. For one it was filthy and two I wanted to show off my happy mail. I received a box from @thefrenchfarmerswife with my new (old) bread board and linen towel. I also had a wonderful surprise when I cleaned a cooper pot that I bought on FB marketplace. On the bottom it was stamped that it was from Caceras, Spain. That is a little town where Emma was going to school when she got sent home because of Covid. She’s home this weekend and we found it together. She say’s it’s a sign 🤷‍♀️. If it is I hope it’s a sign that she will be able to visit again soon. . This stove has a few more things to do this weekend. Can you guess what I’m doing today? I picked about 20 lbs of Roma tomatoes yesterday so today I’m making sauce. My Swedish Mom’s spaghetti sauce was ground beef, tomato sauce and onion & garlic salt! I didn’t know how much better real Italian cooking can be 😉 . I’m lucky enough to have an Italian SIL and I’ve picked her brain over the years.
