It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at this little house. It’s my favorite time of the year, I’m dreaming of a white Christmas and I’ll have a Blue Christmas. Yes, I’m full of Christmas clichés. The sparkle of lights is just so stunning and peaceful and I absolutely love it!
If you’re joining me from Frazzled Joy – Welcome. Isn’t her home awesome and ready for the holidays.
Winter Wonderland Inside our Little House
I love to switch things up every year and this year is no different. I started out with blue and black buffalo check as my inspiration idea. When I couldn’t find a mainstay of holiday decorating (blue and black checked wired ribbon) my plan was quickly derailed. Believe it or not I considered buying fabric and making my own ribbon. Luckily, that only lasted for about a minute an a half.
Everything does happen for a reason. So when the perfect ribbon revealed itself to me, everything fell into place. I found the perfect wrapping paper at Hobby Lobby. The perfect Christmas tree ornaments were at Micheals. Of course it all matches my newly painted blue great room walls.
If you think changing your theme every year is expensive, I suppose it could be but not for me. My base ornaments are white and that doesn’t change. I bought ribbon at a very reasonable price at PaperMart.com and added the blue ornaments (6 sets @ 50% off at Michaels). I have white snowflakes that I purchased at the Dollar Tree years ago and almost always use them but this year they became a focus when I found some beautiful paper snowflakes Urban Farm Girl in Rockford, IL. They are a part of my mantle display. I then decided to make my own DIY paper snowflakes for my packages. They seemed like the perfect backdrop for name tags.
Both Handy and I grew up in homes where everything came out of boxes and went exactly in the same place every year. How I developed a love for always changing decor is unknown. Why Handy still cringes every season (after 26 years) is also an unknown. I like to think he secretly loves everything I do and I do know he’s proud of our beautiful home.
Winter Wonderland Outside this Little House
This brings me to the highlight of our Christmas House Tour. I’m so proud to reveal our new front porch, finally finished and completely decked out in “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” decor. A dusting of snow for picture day would have been lovely but that didn’t happen. Mother Nature just wouldn’t cooperate. Chicago weather – Go figure!
